$8.1M Gift Endows Moise A. Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies
A gift to establish the Moise A. Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies will firmly establish NC State as the premier research and outreach center on the Lebanese Diaspora. The gift is the largest single gift in the history of the college and the first privately endowed center at NC State.
In Ancient Artifacts, A Newfound Passion
First generation student Jordan Karlis (History and Anthropology) traveled to Jordan to participate in an archaeological dig in 2012. She was hooked on the research and returned to Amman to present her findings at an international conference. Students in an advanced digital video class made this video to explain Jordan's research and to share her transformation from shy student to engaged scholar.

Three CHASS Faculty Named University Faculty Scholars
Three CHASS faculty members have been named University Faculty Scholars, an honor reserved for top NC State early- and mid-career faculty. John Begeny (Psychology), Akram Khater (History) and Tim Stinson (English) are among 20 NC State faculty who will receive $10,000 in donated funds for each of the next five years to support their academic endeavors.

Historian Matthew Booker examines the intersection between human beings and the natural world. The associate history professor’s new book serves as an environmental history of a western United States estuary where human desire for public access has led to far-reaching ecological changes in a highly contested urban and natural space: the San Francisco Bay.

Cedars in the Pines: The Lebanese of North Carolina
Cedars in the Pines, a documentary film produced as part of NC State's Khayrallah Program for Lebanese-American Studies, premiered at the NC Museum of History on March 28. The film represents the first phase of a multifaceted project to research, document, preserve, and publicize the history of the Lebanese-American community in North Carolina from the 1890s through the present.
