Staff Celebrated, Thanked at Annual Event
The college held its annual Awards for Excellence luncheon April 19 to recognize and celebrate Humanities and Social Sciences staff. Seven staff members were nominated by their peers or supervisors for the college's 2016 Awards for Excellence. Nominations were based on achievement in outstanding service, innovation, public service, safety, heroism and human relations. During the luncheon, the college also recognized noted staff members who have reached milestone years in their careers with the state.
Grad Students Display Innovative Work at Research Symposium
The College of Humanities and Social Sciences was well represented Wednesday at the 2016 Graduate Student Research Symposium. A total of 43 Humanities and Social Sciences students from 14 different graduate programs presented their work at the annual symposium, which showcases research from across campus through poster presentations that are judged by faculty.

Humanities research shares national stage at Congressional reception
NC State’s purposeful work in the humanities was highlighted on the national stage Tuesday during a Congressional reception in Washington. Congressman David Price invited members of NC State’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences to discuss their latest research at the event, held in honor of the 50th anniversary of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Three CHASS Faculty Named University Faculty Scholars
Three CHASS faculty members have been named University Faculty Scholars, an honor reserved for top NC State early- and mid-career faculty. John Begeny (Psychology), Akram Khater (History) and Tim Stinson (English) are among 20 NC State faculty who will receive $10,000 in donated funds for each of the next five years to support their academic endeavors.
